Well, what a day we have had! Kids are exhausted, but having the time of their lives. Staff are still alive and the people we continue to meet or perform to are impressed by the students, whether musically or just in the way they are presenting themselves.
The Boston Hotel manager told me on departure 'if it wasn't for the fact I knew there was a group of students in the hotel, I would have never known!'. Similarly the Salvation Army Leaders at tonight's concert said we had made their year for them and couldn't find words to compliment the behaviour and musicality of the students. such is the impression they have made!
A early morning breakfast of the USA fare, was followed by the excitement of day trip out in NYC, albeit rather cold. We visited many sights, a moving stop at Ground Zero, Pea Soup as we looked out at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, The John Lennon Memorial in the Strawberry Fields Garden in Central Park, Wall St, NYSE, as well as the highlight of the day (sing our Whittaker piece - Acapella) in the centre of Grand Central Station and stopping crowds of people! Amazing stuff .....
The students also did a great concert at the Salvation Army Women's Hostel this evening, and the students were greeted with enthusiasm and then enjoyed a great meal, which was followed by a simply splendid concert, which was enjoyed by all in attendance. After supper we headed back to the hotel.
Anyway, we are all good and looking forward to tomorrow's workshops and then the concert at St John Devine in the afternoon, followed by the New York Philharmonic Concert tomorrow night.
Enjoy the photos, time to sign out. Look forward to the updates and action in NYC Tuesday. Thanks Dr M.
